JOHNSPORT GEAR GUIDES · RUNNING · 6 MIN READ
Every run starts from the ground. The right shoe should support how, where and why you run.
CUSHIONING
Cushioning changes how impact feels, but more is not automatically better. Daily trainers usually balance comfort and responsiveness; maximum-cushion shoes prioritise comfort on longer or easier runs.
STABILITY
Stability should guide rather than force movement. Look for a secure platform, a well-held heel and transitions that feel natural at your usual pace.
SURFACE
Road shoes favour smooth transitions and lower weight. Trail shoes add traction, protection and durability for uneven terrain. Use the outsole designed for the ground beneath you.
DISTANCE
Short, fast work often benefits from a lighter and more responsive shoe. Long sessions usually reward comfort, consistency and protection.
FIT
Leave room for the foot to expand, keep the heel secure and avoid pressure points. Try shoes with the socks you normally wear and evaluate both feet.
BREATHABILITY
A breathable upper manages heat and moisture, but the balance with structure and weather protection matters.
